Andrea’s caps

I owe a lot of people emails, but that will have to wait until tomorrow night. Tonight is all about the caps! I finally took my own self-photos and here are 3 of my favorite chemo caps from Andrea and her knitting group.

Andrea’s Cap

This is the cap that I am convinced Andrea knitted for me. It’s the colors I asked for, plus it has this little purple bead at the top. Just the kind of touch I think Andrea would add. It keeps it shape after washing, which is really nice!

Look closely and you’ll see that most of my eyelashes are gone. About half of my eyebrows are gone too, but I always had bushy ones, so it’s hard to tell!

Dumb Donald 1

Here’s my Dumb Donald cap! Does anyone else out there remember the Cosby Kids?? What can I say? This one just gets bigger with each washing!

Peek A Boo!

This one also works well when the wind (or Scott) is blowing in my ear!

Cap & Scarf 1

Okay, I have to admit, much as I like the one I think is Andrea’s, this is actually my favorite! It just looks “this close” to perhaps being a wig. Each one of my family members did a double take when they first saw it. Along with the scarf, which I understand was made by a young girl in Andrea’s knitting group, it makes for one great look- always good for some grins. And it’s really soft and comfortable. With the scarf, I’m nice and toasty!

You look adorable in those chemo caps. What a wonderful friend Andrea is… thanks for sharing those with us.

I know you are facing some extensive surgery and I will be saying prayers for your rapid recovery and successful treatment…

I hope you are recovered enough for Run For The Cure in May (I guess it’s on the same month every where, isn’t it?)

    Sincerely,
    Donna from VF

Hey Jan, it’s Sharon. I want you to know that you still look beautiful. I’ve been out of town on business almost every week, so I haven’t seen you since the beginning of the year, even though we live next door. But, I have been following your progress on your blog and want you to know that you have been in my prayers and I think of you often. I admire your strength. You are truly remarkable.

Hey Clare (Hi Sharon!). Love your caps. I agree with you - before I even read the caption, I thought the last one looked like actual hair!

And, ummm, you have 10 times more eyebrow that I do — and I haven’t lost any !!!

Love the caps. Thanks for letting us get a peek at them. I think the “hair” one is my favorite.

    Hi.
Your stylin’. I remember that kid from the Cosy Kids, we always thought is looked like a pie crust! Take care!

I did make the purple one. Friends of mine made the others. And the scarf was made by a young girl who was learning to knit that day, and so she wasn’t really up for hats just yet. I’m glad they’re keeping you warm!

  7. Lexy Says:

You look REALLY REALLY good Clare! I’m so glad you’re getting use from the caps. My favs are the first and second ones. I don’t think I have enough flair to wear the last “hair” one. Oh wait. This is about you. ;)

I now christen you Flair-Clare. Sorry ya posted pics now, right? :D

  8. Debbie Says:

I love the pics!!! You look great, and sound like you are feeling better as well…it just gets better and better; take my word for it!

    Hey Clare!

I am an old VF lurker, who happened to check in and see all this! I have just spent the last hour reading your saga. I remember reading about your first marathon if I remember correctly and always enjoyed your humor and enthusiasm for life. You are a great writer, but more importantly have such a wonderful spirit. Congratulations for getting through that chemo - you will surely be in thoughts and prayers for the surgery.

All the best to you and yours!

WOW! I hadn’t seen you in a while, but you look really remarkably GREAT! You don’t have that ‘chemo’ look at all, and your skin is so smooth. I think you look even younger! LOVED the caps - so glad you shared. And you’re so welcome for the medal, I just knew you’d love it in the same way I meant you to. One day at a time, one step at a time…you’ve done it!

  11. Gina C. Says:

Jan I was thinking the same thing as Barb. Your skin looks great. Really young and smooth. You look great and healthy. Good luck this week. Take it real easy and let yourself recover. We’re with ya.

  12. Mary K. Says:

Best wishes in the coming weeks, Clare. You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers.
